THE CAYMAN ISLANDS

The Cayman Islands is located in the Caribbean, approximatelly 200 miles due south of Cuba. The Cayman Islands is a British Overseas Territory and has a resident Governor appointed by Queen Elizabeth II.  The Caymanian people value the link to the United Kingdom and are considered to be very patriotic. The Cayman Islands derive addional support from their relationship with the British Crown and are able to turn to it for assistance with national security, should the need arise.

The Cayman Islands is recognised as one of the most renouned international financial centres.  It holds this position due to its stable political and economic environment, the quantity of highly skilled professionals that reside there and its communications infrastructure.  Other benefits include having no direct taxation and no exchange controls.

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, the local regulator, is highly proactive and closely monitors all sectors of the local finance industry.  The judicial system has evolved over many decades during which time the Government has liaised closely with the private sector to ensure the continued development of the jurisdiction’s legislation and service offering.
